Free & Reduced Pamukkale Tickets

Pamukkale and Hierapolis follow the standard Turkish state-museum free-entry policy — most generous for Turkish citizens and Müzekart holders, but with a worldwide under-8 free rule, a reduced 8–12 rate, and ICOM/ICOMOS free access. Who enters free

    • Children under 8 (all nationalities): Free entry to Pamukkale, Hierapolis and the Archaeology Museum with a parent or guardian.
    • Müzekart (Museum Pass Türkiye) holders: Free entry for the duration of the pass (15 days, €165). Covers 350+ Turkish state museums and sites.
    • Disabled visitors and one companion: Free at all Turkish state museum sites with a valid disability card or equivalent foreign documentation.
    • Turkish citizens over 65: Free with national ID.
    • Turkish veterans (Gazi) and their families: Free with veteran ID.
    • ICOM and ICOMOS members: Free with a valid professional card.
    • Turkish teachers (Öğretmen Kimliği): Free year-round at all state museum sites.
    • Journalists with a Turkish basın kartı: Free at all state museum sites.

Who gets a discount

The reduced rate (~€15, half of the €30 adult ticket) at Pamukkale + Hierapolis applies to: children aged 8–12 (all nationalities), and Turkish students with a valid domestic student card. Note: foreign students do not get the reduced rate at Turkish state museums even with an ISIC card — this is different from many other countries' policies, and unlike most European museums there is no EU-resident-under-26 free entry.

How to claim a free or reduced ticket

Under-8s: No ticket required at the gate — just present at the turnstile with the accompanying adult. Bring photo ID with date of birth if there is any chance of doubt.

Children 8–12: Buy the reduced child ticket online or at the gate; bring photo ID with date of birth (passport works perfectly).

Müzekart holders: Tap your Müzekart card at the gate turnstile — no need to book separately. The card covers Pamukkale + Hierapolis as a single visit even though the ticket is sold as combined.

Disabled visitors and companions: Show your disability card or equivalent foreign documentation (UK Blue Badge, EU disability card, US ADA equivalent) at the gate. The companion ticket is added free at the same time.

Turkish citizens (over 65, veterans, teachers, students): Present your national ID (T.C. kimlik) or professional card at the gate — no online booking needed for the free rate.

Bring proof: Photo ID with date of birth for under-8s and 8–12s, the relevant card for everyone else. Gate staff check randomly — having proof on you avoids any awkward conversation.

Eligibility, documents, and edge cases

Do under-8s really enter free?
Yes — children under 8 of all nationalities enter free with an accompanying adult. Photo ID with date of birth may be requested at the gate.
Are EU residents under 26 free?
No — unlike many European museums, Pamukkale does not offer free entry to EU residents under 26. Foreign visitors over 12 all pay the full adult rate of approximately €30, regardless of age (except via Müzekart, ICOM, disability card or the rare unlimited annual pass).
Is Müzekart worth it for a foreign visitor?
Yes if you're visiting 4 or more Turkish state museums or sites on a 15-day trip — at €165 the pass pays for itself quickly. Pamukkale alone is €30, Ephesus + Library of Celsus + Terrace Houses is another €30, Topkapı Palace €40, Hagia Sophia museum side €25, plus Cappadocia open-air museums, Troy, Aphrodisias and many more.
Do students get a discount?
Only Turkish students with a domestic student card — not foreign students. ISIC cards and equivalent international student IDs are not accepted at the discounted Turkish state museum rate. Foreign students 18+ pay the full €30 adult rate.
Can carers enter free?
Yes — one companion of a disabled visitor is admitted free at all Turkish state museum sites including Pamukkale-Hierapolis, and the disabled visitor themselves enters free with a valid disability card or equivalent foreign documentation. See our accessibility page.
Is there a family ticket?
No single family ticket — under-8s are always free and 8–12s pay the reduced rate, so typically you only pay full price for the adults in the group. For larger families, the Müzekart annual pass becomes a good option.
Does the Müzekart cover Cleopatra's Antique Pool?
No — the Müzekart covers Pamukkale + Hierapolis + Hierapolis Museum entry, but the swim in Cleopatra's Antique Pool requires a separate ~€6 ticket paid at the poolside. The swim is operated as a concession by a private company on the Ministry of Culture's behalf.
Are teachers free?
Turkish teachers with the Öğretmen Kimliği (Turkish teacher ID) enter free year-round at all state museum sites. Foreign teachers do not qualify unless they hold an ICOM, ICOMOS or equivalent professional museum card.
